Teams
Teams must include at least 3 and no more than 5 people.
Teams must allow at least one additional “outsider” to join their team.
Data
Data used for the data in sight competition must be open data.
Data sets will be provided (data details).
Participants can work with their own data under the following conditions:
- The data must be mashed up with the data sets provided.
- The team discloses the use of their own data set on the results blog.
- The data is open and legal.
Tools
All tools can be used under the following condition: The team fully discloses the usage of their tools on submission.
Submitting the data visualization
Data visualizations can be as simple or complex as you desire; they can be static or dynamic, interactive or not.
Each team will document their data visualization on the wiki.
The documentation should include:
- Project name/title and short description
- Name of team and team members
- Affiliation of team members and job titles
- Data sets used
- Software/resources/tools used (in preparing, computing and visualizing)
- APIs used
- Screenshots or videos of the result
- Link to the result (if applicable)
- Amount of time worked with the data set(s) prior to the event
Presenting the data visualization
Each team will present their results to the judges on Sunday afternoon.
Teams will present using their own computers.
Projection equipment will be provided.
The time allotted for each presentation is 2 minutes, plus 1 minute for Q&A.
