Uster Memory
Historical photographs invite present-day viewers to closely look at these images witnessing a distant past. Uster, the third largest city in the Canton of Zürich, with over 30 000 inhabitants, and is one of the twenty largest cities in Switzerland. Julius Gujer (1893-1909), an entrepreneur and a gifted photographer, offer an insight into the industrial development of a small Swiss town at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. A "collection of 492 of his photos" has been made available by the city of Uster on the occasion of the first Zurich Archival Hackday on June 9th, 2017.
