Historical photographs invite present-day viewers to closely look at these images witnessing a distant past. Uster, the third largest city in the Canton of Zürich, with over 30 000 inhabitants, and is one of the twenty largest cities in Switzerland. Julius Gujer (1893-1909), an entrepreneur and a gifted photographer, offer an insight into the industrial development of a small Swiss town at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. The collection of 492 of his photos has been made available by the city of Uster on the occasion of the first Zurich Archival Hackday on June 9th, 2017.
